Installing Came AXO Motors with ZLX24MA: A Step-by-Step Guide
Today, I installed Came AXO motors with the ZLX24MA control board. This guide will walk you through the process and troubleshoot common issues.
Initial Setup of Came AXO Motors
When you turn on the ZLX24MA control board for the first time, it prompts you to choose the motor type. This is parameter A1. For AXO motors, set A1 to 9.
Specify the Quantity of Motors
Next, the control board asks you to specify the number of motors. This is parameter F46. Set this according to your installation needs.
Motor Calibration
After setting the motor quantity, you need to calibrate the motors with parameter A3. However, in my case, parameter A3 was missing from the menu. This prevented me from setting up the motors properly.
Checking the Encoder
The first troubleshooting step was to check if the encoder was turned on. This is parameter F11. Unfortunately, F11 was also missing from the menu.
Resetting the Controller
With parameters A3 and F11 missing, I decided to reset the controller. There are two ways to reset:
- Go to parameter A4 and choose YES.
- Turn off the power, press both arrows, turn the power on, and select YES when prompted for a reset.
Despite resetting the controller with both methods, parameter A3 was still missing from the menu.
Inspecting Motor Connections
Next, I checked the motor connections. I discovered that I had swapped cores in one motor. The wires had different color cores, which I had mistakenly connected incorrectly. I fixed the wiring, but parameter A3 was still missing.
Replacing the Controller
Eventually, I decided to replace the controller. The new controller worked properly and displayed all necessary parameters, including A3.
Setting Motor Limits
When I started setting the motor limits, one motor didn’t move. I found that the wires plug had become unplugged from the motor plug. This is a common issue with AXO motors. The plug faces downward, making it easy to unplug if the motor wire is pulled slightly.
Final Steps
After plugging the motor plug back in, everything worked fine. The motors calibrated successfully, and the gate operated smoothly.
Conclusion
Installing Came AXO motors with the ZLX24MA control board requires careful attention to detail. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth installation:
- Set the motor type (A1).
- Specify the number of motors (F46).
- Calibrate the motors (A3).
If parameters are missing, check the encoder and reset the controller. Inspect motor connections for any wiring issues. If problems persist, consider replacing the controller. Always ensure the motor plugs are securely connected to avoid common issues with AXO motors.
