Securing Double Swing Gates: Effective Solutions (magnetic, latch and drop bolt locks)
Holding Big Gates Securely
Double swing gates, especially large and solid ones, need something to hold them in the closed position like magnetic lock or latch lock.
Challenges with Magnetic Locks
For a single swing gate, a magnetic lock works perfectly. However, with double swing gates, there is a bit of a problem. In windy conditions, the magnet plate may slide back and forth. Magnetic locks may slide due to wind, especially on large gates.
Ground Attachment Solution
Attach gates to the ground with electric drop bolts or latch locks for stability. Ideally, for double swing gates, there should be something that attaches the gate to the ground, not to each other. This could be an electric drop bolt, a latch lock, or even a magnetic lock if the distance between the gate and the ground is too big for other locks.
Utilizing Magnetic Locks
To use a magnetic lock effectively and prevent the sliding of lock parts, you can install a plate attached to the magnet side. In the closed position, the plate fits in the gap between the magnet lock plate and the bracket side. Install a plate to prevent sliding of magnetic locks on double swing gates.
Generally it is recommended not to use solid big gates in windy places. Because if it is scure closed during opening the wind gust can push the gate and brake the motor. In such place good to have tubular design gate. It could be aluminium, steel or forged gates.
