Farfisa MD11ED vs MD30
Farfisa MD11ED and MD30 audio intercoms are known for their ease of installation and reliable quality. These intercom systems have been in use for many years across various locations, providing dependable communication and security solutions. However, even the best devices require occasional repair or maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
Common Intercom Issues
Intercom faults often arise from broken or damaged wires. Over time, wires can deteriorate due to environmental factors or physical wear and tear, leading to connectivity issues. Additionally, microphones and speakers can suffer damage from prolonged exposure to moisture and other elements. This can result in poor sound quality or complete audio failure.
Another common issue involves the intercom buttons. These buttons may stop functioning properly due to rust or corrosion on their contacts. Rust can form from moisture, especially in outdoor environments, leading to intermittent or complete failure of the button’s functionality.
Recent Repair Insights
Recently, I was asked to replace an old intercom unit, and during this process, I discovered an interesting fact. Old units with similar appearances can have different internal components. Specifically, I encountered units containing either an MD11ED or an MD30 module.
Differences Between MD11ED and MD30
The MD11ED is a more modern device. It requires only two wires for connection between the gate station and the handset. This simplified wiring makes installation easier and reduces potential points of failure. The power supply for the MD11ED should be installed near the gate station to ensure proper operation.
On the other hand, the MD30 is an older unit. It requires four wires to connect the gate station and the handset. This additional wiring complexity can make installation and troubleshooting more challenging. Furthermore, the MD11ED and MD30 are not compatible with each other due to their different wiring requirements and internal configurations.
